Serious Business

I updated The Collection tonight, with the primary reason excuse being the new shelves I put together over the weekend making it much easier to see everything at once.
For the appropriate effect, put on some music that’s heavy with organs. This will allow you to not just see, but experience just how much of a life I do not possess.

The stuff you say isn’t pictured would probably fit in some of those spare shelves, like the NES carts, just so everything IS all there together.
Also, there seem to be a few small half-shelves not accounted for in your rundown of what is in each shelf… and the shelves on the far left side seem to carry freakish amounts of stuff according to your list despite seeming to only be a few cases (even if they are box set cases).
Is there a particular pattern or organization that had you deciding which shelf got which thing? I have a sort of system on my own shelves though it might not be immediately apparent to others.

There once was a system, but I keep shifting stuff around so often that it’s mostly barely-contained chaos now.
The retro stuff is still too meager to warrant hauling out of the cabinet, but once I get closer to having more of that together I’ll probably take photos of that.
The small half-shelves are either audio CDs (not really worth documenting) or borrowed material.
As for why the stuff on the left seems to be far more compact, it’s probably because it is; most of the sets I’ve managed to reclaim have been Bandai’s one-package Anime Legends sets, Funi’s Viridian Collection sets (or their first-run-thinpak stuff, for which I am infinitely thankful), or ADV’s re-re-release thinpaks. I have very few one-at-a-time disc releases compared to the last peak in the collection (about 4 1/2 years ago).
It mostly needs a complete reorganization now that I have the two identical shelves side-by-side.

It’s BECAUSE some of that stuff is so minor (like just a few NES carts) that I think it would do well to just put it in the shelves. You won’t take up so much room as to invalidate it as storage for DVDs or newer games, and you’ll keep all the entertainment in one place, and you’ll potentially free up a cabinet or more than one for other purposes (an empty cabinet can also be a beautiful thing, in that it has the potential to store something for you in the future).
What do you think of me documenting my own collection? You at least have had some peek at it before – worth doing or minor enough not to bother?
