I’m probably going to be dropping off the net for the next few days. Honestly this is all for the best, as I’m starting to run into some annoying physical limitations on what I can do, specifically the need for sleep. I should be back by Monday at the latest. Ciao.

A lot of people find it quite remarkable how, when confronted with something that they didn’t expect, I can shrug it off and say “I saw this coming.” Most folks ascribe it to a gift, some perception they don’t possess. That’s partly true; I do tend to catch on to details before other people. The primary difference being that those details are far from supernatural, and every time I do it, I pray as hard as I can that I’m wrong.

Let me just say this: I wasn’t wrong several times today. Some of them good, some of them less good. I’ll explain once this gauchery is behind us.

Sorry, folks… still no actual posting yet. The last few days have been rough, but I’m slowly getting back into a semblance of order. This weekend will likely be quiet as well but I’m hoping I can get some more code work done for the XNA project; over the week I drafted out some of the functionality and at some point this weekend, probably tomorrow, I’m going to give it a test run. In the meantime, well… just bear with me.

I updated The Collection tonight, with the primary reason excuse being the new shelves I put together over the weekend making it much easier to see everything at once.

For the appropriate effect, put on some music that’s heavy with organs. This will allow you to not just see, but experience just how much of a life I do not possess.

It took me well over a month to remember to add my comments feed to my own reader, so I can respond to comments in a far more timely manner. It should go without saying that I’ve done so now, so to anyone who thinks I was ignoring their comments… I wasn’t. Really. I just never remembered. The fact that the feed link isn’t exactly obvious in this layout doesn’t help things either.

I should probably have an update to The Collection page done tonight. It’s going to be much easier to do now, because… well, you’ll see.

The RSS feed might be temporarily screwed up. Mea culpa. This is because I forgot to set the time zone properly three weeks ago when I set up the blog. More or less it’s the Web 2.0 equivalent of leaving your VCR to flash “12:00″ forever. (On a completely unrelated note, my microwave shows “12:00″ in perpetuity primarily because I’m too lazy to set the time after each power outage.)

So… hello.

This project– my name-domain– has been a very long time in coming. For a while now, I’ve been straining to get away from some of the more unfortunate assumptions that come along with the online sobriquet “TheFurryOne”. Specifically, yeah, the whole animal thing. I’m not. Really. Fortunately this blog seeks to correct that by making this post pretty much the only time I’m going to even mention it in full, the rest being conveniently abbreviated to TFO.

So. Why am I pulling up stakes and moving to this here homestead (which in and of itself should give me the willies and flashbacks to GeoCities)? The answer, simply, is because I want to. I also happened to have the opportunity to realize that I was using WordPress’s “categories” and “tags” features completely wrong, so separating my old content from my new seemed easier than going through and redoing the whole thing.

Sounds good, huh? Well, it’s going to be rough. This new theme, while very pretty, has some issues; it’ll be a while until I figure out how to get everything back the way I want it. The Xbox gamercard will probably stay off for a while (for reasons which will be evident soon), and I’m not even going to bother with the “now playing” and Backloggery things just yet because I never update them. The Twitter display needs to get put back, though.

Oh, one last thing: the forums are NOT going anywhere. They’re staying right where they were… which is fine by me, really.

Anyway. Lots of stuff to take care of today, so I’ll be off. Take care, folks, and soon there will be strange.
